The Reds ace continues to be linked with the Catalan club with reports claiming the Brazilian could make a move this month.
But Spanish outlet Sport say Liverpool are demanding Barca pay more than the £120m they spent on Ousmane Dembele in the summer.
The La Liga leaders are said to want an agreement closer to the £100m mark though.
Liverpool believe Coutinho is a better player than Dembele and therefore will demand they receive a bigger fee for their talisman.
The 25-year-old has been in fine form this season, netting 12 times and providing nine assists in all competitions.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has insisted the player would be staying at Anfield today though.
"All the things I could say now would only create stories, I have nothing to say. It's a transfer window," he said.
"Nothing I could say now would help me, the player or the club.
"Maybe 80 per cent of the cameras are only here for this so that's a waste of time."

Coutinho will be absent for Liverpool tomorrow night when they welcome Everton to Anfield in the FA Cup third round.
The Brazilian could be available to face Premier League leaders Manchester City on January 14 though if Barcelona haven't wrapped up a deal by then.
