PIFF to feature a bouquet of contemporary Marathi movies

Four unreleased and three released Marathi films have made it to the final seven in the Marathi film competition section at the 16th Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) that begins on January 11.
The films that are yet to hit the silver screens include Pimpal, Ziprya, Nashibvaan and Mhorkya. Muramba, Faster Fene and Kachcha Limbu will also fight it out at the competition.

The annual film festival is jointly organized by the Pune Film Foundation and the state government.

This year, the festival will also include the Vijay Tendulkar Memorial lecture to be conducted by script writers Kamlesh Pandey, Maurizio Nichetti and Rodrigo Pla. Besides, Prasad Film Labs' Mohan Krishnan will conduct a workshop on digital post-production and hold a talk on film preservation in the digital age.


PIFF will present some films as homage to recently deceased artists. Cinema featuring Vinod Khanna, Reema Lagoo, Kundan Shah, Shyama, and Shashi Kapoor will be part of the festival.


This year, the festival will also offer late evening screenings between 9pm and 11pm at the NFAI.


A talk on 'Fate of Marathi Cinema' will be conducted by Sanjay Patil, Sanjay Chabria and Nitin Vaidya. Vimukhti Jayasundara will be hold a film-making workshop. Luanda Fernandes will conduct a session on 'Contemporary Argentine Cinema'. TNN
