Bradford schools pass levy with slight uptick

BRADFORD – The Bradford School Board held a public hearing prior to the opening of their regularly scheduled monthly board of education meeting on behalf of the school district’s 2017 proposed tax levy with an aggregate amount of $2,697,000.
Superintendent Chad Gripp reviewed the district’s figures with the school board members before being finalized and the levy approved with the $0.0069 increased rate change.
Following final approval the levy hearing was concluded and the school district’s regular monthly meeting immediately proceeded.
Supt. Gripp reported that he had been working on the new RFP (Request for Proposal) in conjunction with the Preschool for All (PFA) program which is due this month.
“We are hoping that our request will be accepted so we can continue to off a Pre-K program for the foreseeable future.” said Gripp.
The superintendent also noted that he was hoping to include in the new RFP new playground equipment geared for the pre-school students.
Under recognitions, it was reported that longtime bus driver Pam Murphy would be retiring from her 12 years of service.
School board member Jerry Johnston stated that he had attended the Henry-Stark Special Ed Committee meeting and reported that the Special Education Committee requested that there be no new enrollment into Excel at the current time.
