DUBAI: Dubai Police will be unveling a new logo on Jan.4, to “reflect the police, Emirate and the country’s strategies” of 2016-2021; 2021 to 2071 respectively.

The Commander of Dubai Police, Maj. Gen. Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, said there will be some changes in the flag, and that all old flags will be lowered at the headquarters and all other police stations at 8am today.

He said the changes are with respect to the vision of the Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Last year, Abu Dhabi Police too changed their logos and uniforms.

He said the changes will reflect three key aspects: ‘Creativity’ (going by our immaculate services); ‘Security’ (as per our protection of people and their belongings), and ‘Communication’ (symbolising our reach to the public).”

The Commander said the three elements “reflect positivity and are meant to build a happy and secure society.”

The Assistant Commander in charge of Community Happiness and Equipment, Maj. Gen. Mohammed Saeed Al Marri, said the police would be carrying out massive marketing of the new identity from the day of launch till Jan.9.

He said the marketing would encompass marches on the streets of Dubai, staging awareness drives in the shopping malls and other public places.

“There will be electronic, Golden Gate screens on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, at the airports, Dubai Creek, Floating Bridge, Dubai Marina among other areas.”
