Kabul, Jan 4: At least 15 people were killed and almost 20 others were left injured as an explosion rocked Banaee area in Kabul on Thursday evening, a report claimed. If eyewitnesses are to be believed, it was a suicide attack. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
The number of casualties has been confirmed by Ministry of Public Health and Kabul Police, reported TOLO News. The victims were mostly police force members who had a mission in the area.
The explosion occurred at around 8:30pm Kabul time. The Emergency Hospital in Kabul said in a tweet that at least 20 wounded were brought to their surgical centre after the explosion.
The attack comes days after a suicide bomber killed at least 41 people and wounded more than 80 at a Shi’ite cultural centre in Kabul, underlining the precarious security situation in the Afghan capital.
