On the occasion of the Paradip Port Foundation Day, the 15th Paradip Marathon 2018 was conducted by the Paradip Port Trust’s (PPT) Sports Council here on Wednesday flagged off by PPT Chairman Rinkesh Roy.
The marathon started from the Hanuman Temple square, covering a route of 14 km, concluded at the Gopabandhu Stadium amid great encouragement by the inhabitants of Port Township and members of other organisations.
In the men category, Mukund Banra of Jharkhand won the first prize, Jharkhand’s Yogendra Tiriya was second and Angul’s Sudhansu Nayak was third. In the women category, Samsad Ara Begum of Cuttack won the first prize, Keonjhar’s Heera Majhi was second and Jajpur’s Sobha Nayak was third.
PPT Chairman Rinkesh Roy, Paradip Ladies’ Club president Subhalaxmi Roy and Coast Guard DIG Rajesh Makwana graced as guests and distributed prizes to the winners. Paradip Port Sports Council officials and technical members with the assistance of the Odisha Olympic Associations officials conducted the programme.
Meanwhile, the Golden Jubilee Park adjacent to the Paradip Port Trust (PPT) Administrative Office Building has been revived over an area around 20,000 square meters to mark the commemoration of 50 years of operation of the PPT.
It was dedicated to the people of port town on Wednesday on the occasion of the port foundation day celebrations.
The park was inaugurated by PPT Chairman Rinkesh Roy in the presence of the PPT’s Heads of the Departments.
