With the best group of nominees in years, the Grammys are preparing a 2018 ceremony that will hopefully live up to that quality. And today, the Recording Academy announced the first batch of performers for the 60th awards on January 28. Lady Gaga, Pink, Childish Gambino, and Little Big Town will perform at the first event outside of L.A. in 15 years.
All four are nominated for awards this year. Gaga is nominated for Joanne and its single “Million Reasons,” Pink for the track “What About Us,” Little Big Town for their album The Breaker and the single “Better Man,” and Childish Gambino for the album Awaken, My Love! and the track "Redbone."
And this is a good start for a promising night. Pink and Lady Gaga are more than proven award show stars, and Childish Gambino's live performances have been rare, but legendary.
As CBS reports, the show will also have some special performances in honor of the Grammys' return to New York:
Two-time GRAMMY winner Patti LuPone will reprise her 1981 performance of "Don't Cry for Me Argentina," and Dear Evan Hansen's currently nominated Ben Platt will perform a classic from West Side Story in a special Broadway tribute honoring the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Leonard Bernstein.
Which sounds ... interesting...
Anyhoo, more performers will be announced in the coming weeks, which will hopefully include appearances by Kendrick Lamar and SZA.
