All flights have been suspended at John F. Kennedy International Airport and LaGuardia Airport due to "wind and white out conditions," Port Authority officials said.
The airports remain open, though it is unclear when flights will resume, according to a 11:30 a.m. alert released by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which oversees the area airports.
Newark Liberty International Airport also remains open, though limited flights are expected to arrive at or depart from the airport Thursday.

"Two thirds of all flights at Port Authority airports are cancelled. Airline passengers are strongly urged to call their carrier before going to the airports today or later this week and also should not go to the airports unless they have a reservation," the Port Authority alert said.
A total of 920 flights have been cancelled Thursday at Newark Airport, the most in the nation, according to FlightAware, a flight tracking website.

Port Authority officials said they are prepared to accommodate passengers who get stranded at area airports.
It is also difficult to navigate around the local airports. AirTrain JFK is suspended and part of AirTrain Newark is not running, Port Authority officials said. Buses are in place to take passengers between terminals and to the parking lots.

Conditions also remain poor at Atlantic City International Airport, where Spirit Airlines cancelled all flights for the day.
Spirit and United Airlines, the largest carrier at Newark Airport, are among the airlines waiving fees so passengers can rebook flights for later in the week or next week.
However, it remains unclear if many flights will be back on scheduled on Friday, after the storm passes. Nearly 400 flights slated for Friday are already cancelled nationwide, according to FlightAware.
