It looks like Microsoft could soon be adding a highly requested feature to its Xbox One family of consoles.

Microsoft shares a pool of console players with PC veterans - thanks to its crossover game sharing feature, Xbox Play Anywhere - and as such, the fanbase has long requested mouse and keyboard support for the console.

Thanks to a post that was seemingly published early by Microsoft Poland, it looks like the feature is in the works.

The company's Polish arm sent out a statement that suggests we could see the alternative control solution added to the Xbox One relatively soon.

"Some players prefer to conquer the virtual world with a pad in hand," reads a translated post hosted over at Windows Latest.

"Others, above all, value the precision of the mouse movements. Others, however, can not imagine playing on anything other than a keyboard.

"Now, owners of Xbox One consoles (including Xbox One S models and the latest Xbox One X) can choose these accessories and decide for themselves what they will use."

This comes after Development studio Double Fine has announced that the cult hit Psychonauts 2 will be coming to consoles later than originally announced.

The game - a follow up to 2005's Xbox, PS2 and PC title - has been eagerly awaited by fans for 12 years, and the most recent update from the studio unfortunately states fans will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on the title.

In an update on the status of the game around Christmas, project lead Zak McClendon stated that the title is going to take longer than anticipated to develop.

"We do know about how long it's going to take, but we don't want to say anything until we have a firm date," explains McClendon in the video.

Double Fine goes on to explain that the reason for the delay is down to quality.

After completing a playable version of the game late last year, the studio opted to delay the title so it could work on bringing the release up to its self-confessed high standards.

That means Psychonauts 2 still goes without a launch date, with the release window now simply becoming 2019.

Despite the first game achieving cult status in gaming circles, it was not a commercial success.

The game only sold around 100,000 units at launch, leading to the closure of publisher Majesco and its departure from the videogame industry.

Despite the commercial failure, the game has amassed a large following, and after Psychonauts 2's announcement at the 2015 Game Awards, the title managed to secure almost $4,000,000 for development costs via crowd-funding platform Fig.

Early in 2016, Starbreeze Studios also announced that it would be funding the game - offering to inject a further $8,000,000 into the production in return for 85% from the profit of sales (taking 60% after production costs are paid for).

Psychonauts 2 will follow on from the events detailed in the VR spin-off of the series Psychonauts: The Rhombus of Ruin.

This game will deviate from themes previously explored in the series, with elements of puzzle platforming being explored as well.

New narrative themes are explored, too: main character Raz is expected to 'get a girlfriend' whilst the Psychonaut unit is expected to experiment with necromancy.

The game is due out in 2019 and will launch on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
