BBC weather: Matt Taylor warns of 'severe' gales and wintery showers across the UK
BBC Breakfast's Matt Taylor warned viewers of “severe” gales and heavy rainfall this morning during the weather report.
The meteorologist advised those at home to be cautious as the wind will strengthen throughout the day across the UK.
He also described how hailstone will push northwards while rain hits Northern Ireland, southern areas and Scotland.
Matt said: “Central, southern Scotland, this is were we’ll see lots of rain throughout the afternoon.”

The weather presenter then went on to explain that some parts of the north will stay dry.
In the evening, there will be severe winds with 70mph gusts and strengthening gales in Liverpool.
The north east will be mostly wet but the weather will brighten up in Northern Ireland.

On Friday, temperatures will be fairly cool, although showers will move towards the far north and east.
By the weekend, artic winds will move across the country and showers will turn wintery in northern Scotland.
In particular, Saturday night will see strong gale force winds hit southern parts of the UK but Sunday will be mainly dry with sunshine for most.
