One of the biggest questions in the basketball recruiting world now has a target date for an answer.

Spartanburg Day School’s Zion Williamson announced via Twitter Wednesday night that he will make his college decision known on Jan. 20.

Willamson, the No. 2 recruit in the nation as ranked by 247Sports and ESPN, has offers from every major basketball power. He has taken official visits to Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina and Kansas, and unofficial visits to Clemson and South Carolina.

Recruiting analysts can’t seem to agree on a guess for Williamson’s destination – 247Sports has Clemson and Kentucky as co-leaders – and Williamson himself hasn’t named a favorite.

The 6-6, 272-pound Williamson has been nursing an injury through the first part of the season and hasn’t played since late November. Last season, Williamson was a CBS MaxPreps first-team All-American and an All-USA first team selection, averaging 36.8 points, 13 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 3 steals and 2.5 blocks per game in helping lead the Griffins to their second straight SCISA 2A state title.
