Dimapur, Jan. 4 (EMN): Members of the Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) visited the central jail and the district jail on January 4. The organisers informed in a press release on Thur. that the visit of the lawyers was part of the DDLSA’s ‘action plan’ for the month of January.
During the visit there was an interaction session with under trail prisoners, the organisers informed. ‘They were sensitized and made aware on rights of an accused person. Queries were made about their stay in the prison and whether the UTPs (under trial prisoners) are facing any problems or hardships,’ the press release stated.
Further, a brief highlight was given about the activities of the DDLSA and that of the panel lawyers working under the group. The gatherings were given updates about how to avail free legal services for those who fulfil the criteria which was made known to them, the press release stated.
The DDLSA team was led by Ajongba Imchen, secretary of the DDLSA, also chief judicial magistrate of Dimapur. Others in the group included retainer lawyers and panel lawyers, it was informed.
