Microsoft and its effort to make its browser successful aren’t really working out even with their improved Edge Browser. The combined market share for Internet Explorer and Edge is 16.97% of which Edge only has 3.7%. This is disappointing even with Windows 10 Fall Creators Update available to 50% of the PCs worldwide, and Edge comes pre-installed. This market share has actually dropped by 1% since last year.
The details from NetApplications which just like AdDuplex figures out the market share of Browser, instead of Windows 10 version of PCs. The report shows the following stats:
- IE + Edge declined by 1.3 %
- Chrome is almost at the same share.
- Firefox dropped by 3.5%
- Safari is at 4%

if I had to blame it on something, then I will blame it on the half-baked release of Edge. It wanst even baked really. It’s much better now, like almost 100% better, but then whoever used Edge, in early days, where pretty disappointed, especially when Microsoft wanted to do something new, and better.
As a matter of fact, Edge performs much better on phones compared to IE, for me, as it uses the same engine as Chrome, and offers PC users features that work with their PC.
I won’t be surprised if the situation remains the same, either Edge will be dropped off completely or might be forced to use the same engine as Chrome for Desktop as well.
