Auckland's waterfront road Tamaki Dr has closed for the second time in 24 hours following storm surges.

WeatherWatch reported Tamaki Dr was closed from the Port of Auckland to Ngapipi Rd due to flooding.

Police say waves crashing across the coastal road in Mission Bay, forcing the closure of westbound lanes at Kohimarama by Selwyn Ave.

Waves are washing up the boat ramp and over the sea wall.

High tide was at 10.22pm with the New Zealand Transport Agency reporting the closure around 9.30pm.

Water levels were predicted to rise to 3.5m with on Twitter user claiming the tide reached a height of over four metres.

Emergency services are dealing with other weather related jobs across Auckland tonight.

Police say a tree is down on Princes St and Wellesley St in the CBD, blocking traffic eastbound.

A large marquee has also been torn down on Patiki Rd in Avondale - Police are concerned it could cause problems on the motorway.

Power lines are down at Upland Rd in Remuera due to the wind with power out since 9.40pm, according to local resident Jennifer Yung.
