Singer and music producer Sukh-E feels that music has the potential to influence one’s emotions and create an atmosphere for self discovery

Multi-talented Sukhdeep Singh, popularly known as Sukh-E is a jack of many trades, a singer, rapper, songwriter and music producer, who is excited about his recent release, Insane.

Renowned for songs like All Black, Jaguar and Superstar, he has come a long way since his debut song, Sniper. But not many people know that the rapper is extremely scared of heights and water. “I am terrified of tall buildings and always avoid balconies during my stay at hotels,” said Sukh-E whose New Year resolution is to overcome his fear of water and learn swimming.

Born and brought up in a small town Garhshankar in Punjab, he had far reaching ambitions of success and fame. With an academic oriented family background, he completed his graduation in Chandigarh and pursued his music as a hobby. He is passionate about music and its powerful connect with people. “Music has the potential to influence your emotions and create an atmosphere for self discovery.”

His music is popular among the young masses but he was surprised when an old man approached him while he was roaming around in a hotel and appreciated his style and the way he carried himself. His parents supported him throughout his journey, in all his struggles and forthcoming ventures. “I am close to my mother and constantly visit my hometown. During hectic schedules, when I am unable to visit, she becomes rather worried and troubled.”

As a newcomer, he never imagined he would garner so much success. “Though I have no complaints about my stardom, I miss the little things at times. I am unable to drive my own car or go to restaurants alone. While shopping, I have to pick up clothes at an unimaginable speed so that a mob doesn’t pounce on me.

For music, he has collaborated with various artists like A-Kay, Bling Singh, Bohemia and Raftaar and feels it is a lot of responsibility. “You are responsible for the triumphs and misfortunes of others.” With so much success, he is haunted by failures as well. For him, the turning point was the release of Jaguar which changed his life. Inspired by various artists,” he says. “But I can’t name one specific artist. Every song brings something new to the table.”

For Sukh-E, Bollywood is his next stop. And is awaiting the release of his song in a movie. “Bollywood has been my dream and for the next 5 years, I would just concentrate on my work in the industry.” Bollywood has changed and re-defined Punjabi music and introduced it into mainstream cinema. The youth of today is perceived as withdrawn and lost but one thing everyone has in common is their immense love for music.
