Thunder adds

F Martin

WICHITA — The Wichita Thunder acquired forward Colin Martin from the Reading Royals for future considerations.

Martin is a second-year pro.

Martin started the season with the Brampton Beast, posting two assists in eight games. He didn’t play for the Royals before coming to Wichita. He also played a game for Toledo, scoring a goal.

Last season, he played 47 games for the Utah Grizzlies, scoring 22 goals with 11 assists. He played four playoff games, scoring an assist.

Martin played four years for St. Thomas University (Canada), scoring 23 goals with 34 assists in 98 games. Before college, Martin played four seasons for the London Knights of the major junior Ontario Hockey League, scoring 36 goals with 48 assists in 188 games. He led the Knights to the OHL Championship in 2012 games.

Richey to serve

as emeritus

LAWRENCE — Kansas Golf Association executive director Kim Richey will transition into the executive director emeritus effective Jan. 1.

Richey has led the KGA for the past 25 years, administering more than 80 competitions. He is a member of the USGA Rules Committee and has officiated US Opens, Big 12 Conference Championships and other national championships.

Richey will be succeeded by Casey Old, who began as a USGA P.J. Boatwright Intern in 2002. A 2002 graduate of Kansas, he also played at Allen County Community College.
