Darts fans spotted new champ Rob Cross’ bizarre grip – nobody can figure out how it works

ROB CROSS caused a seismic upset after storming to victory in the Professional Darts Corporation World Championships this year.

The 27-year-old thrashed retiring legend Phil Taylor 7-2 in the final, having taken the scalp of world number one Michael Van Gerwen in the semi-finals.

Averaging 107.76, Cross hopelessly outgunned The Power to scoop his first major trophy barely a year after turning professional.

Nicknamed Voltage, the lad from Hastings, who found work as an electrician prior to joining the pro circuit, now sits at number three in the world rankings.

His arrival on the scene has been a revelation this year – and eagle-eyed viewers reckon his unique grip might play a role in his success.

Images of his action have baffled darts fans, showing him clasping the arrow between his index and middle fingers.

“I don’t even see how thats possible,” one comment read online.

Another said: “I don't understand how that grip generates any thrust let alone any control.”

“I just tried to throw like that and the safest place to stand is right in front of the board,” joked another.

Earlier this week, the 2018 Premier League of Darts line-up was announced – and there were shocks as both Adrian Lewis and James Wade missed out.

Lewis, a two-time world champion, has slipped to 20th in the rankings after a poor year, while Wade has had his own struggles of late.
