Dwane Casey has earned his fifth NBA Eastern Conference Coach of the month honour in his fifth season with the team.
Casey led the Raptors to an 11-3 record in the month of December, tops in the East and third overall in the NBA for the month. The .786 winning percentage was the best December in franchise history.
The Raps were a perfect 6-0 at home in the month.
Typically Casey spread the honour around.
“It’s about our entire organization,” he said of the award. “The organizational reset is in full bloom, we’re working, everyone’s striving to get our team to a championship level. We’re not there yet but that’s our goal each and every day we wake up is working and thinking about a championship.”
Casey previously won the award in December and January of 2016, November of 2014 and December of 2013.
Casey and his staff also have a shot at coaching the Eastern Conference all-star team this year in Los Angeles. The coaching staff of team with the best record in each conference (with Steve Kerr of the Warriors and Brad Stevens of Boston ineligible having coached the game last year) in late January will earn those duties.
