Magnitude 4.5 Earthquake Detected Near San Francisco
Bloomberg NewsAn earthquake was detected at 2:39 am PST in the San Francisco Bay Area, according to European-Mediterranean Seismological Center, Bloomberg News reports.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake's epicenter was 2 miles (3 kilometers) from Berkeley, Calif. The earthquake had a preliminary depth of 8 miles (13 kilometers).
California’s Office of Emergency Services said there were no reports of injuries at this time.
The USGS website says people reported feeling the quake 40 miles (64 kilometers) south in San Jose.
No tsunami is expected after the quake, says the U.S. National Weather Service.
