Ujjain: Shaiv Mahotsava-2018 organising committee outlines event proceedings

Ujjain: Highlights of Shaiv Mahotsav, scheduled to be held from January 5 to January 7, were outlined at a press conference held in Mahakal Pravachan hall on Wednesday.

Addressing the press, Central Simhastha Fair Organising Committee chairman Makhan Singh said that the aim of the Shaiv Mahotsav is to create harmony among all sections of society. He said that in present time the whole world is one big global family. However, India’s development norms are different from Western nations. It is necessary to think that temples and monasteries become a centre of consciousness. The aim is to create a beautiful society from the knowledge of Vedas and other ancient holy texts.

Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee (MTMC) chairman and collector Sanket Bhondve informed that preparations for Shaiv Mahotsav have been completed. The programme of Kshipra aarti and malkhamb will be organised on Ramghat on all three days along with main event and exhibition.


Administrator Avadhesh Sharma gave the outline of the Mahotsav. MTMC member Pradeep Guru said that the Mahotsav will be the means of exchange of traditions existing in 12 Jyotirlingas along with the traditions of India’s eternal culture. Research seminars will also be organised on this occasion.

MTMC member Vibhash Upadhyay said that the inauguration programme will be held from 9.30 am at Swami Santadas Udaseen Ashram Narsinh Ghat. Swami Divyanand Tirtha, Shankaracharya Bhanpura Tirtha, Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Vishokananda, Mahamandaleshwar Vishwatmananda, Bhavaninandan Yati, Swami Brahmyoganand and Swami Ganga Bharati will be present in the inaugural session.

The chief guest of the programme will be RSS chief Mohanrao Bhagwat. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan will preside over the programme. Special invitee will be Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki and Union minister of state for HRD, Satyapal Singh.

After the closing session shobhayatra will be taken out from Mahakaleshwar temple at 4 pm. The exhibition will be inaugurated at 9 am on the same day. The exhibition will showcase paintings made by artists of Shaiv Kala Sangam and creations in form of Lord Shiva made by Satyanarayan Maurya Baba.

Upadhyay informed that on January 6, scholars will discuss Shaiv ??philosophy, worship system and management arrangements on the four chairs made at four different places. Scholars, priests and management staff of 12 Jyotirlinges will discuss about worship technique and karmkand in Mahakal Pravachan hall, about social establishment at the chair established in Santadas Udaseen Ashram, about significance of Shaiv philosophy at the chair established in the inner hall of Jhalaria Math and about management arrangements at the chair established in the external hall of the Jhalaria Math.

MTMC member Jagdish Shukla informed that the entire programme is being arranged through 17 sub-committees.
