Abolish political system in the country: Anna Hazare

Hubballi: Dispute over various issues in the country is because of party politics system in the country, said anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare here on Thursday.

"The party politics system is nowhere mentioned in the Constitution, but exists in the country. It should be abolished to give better governance. This move should begin from the gram panchayat level," he said, adding that due to vote bank politics, political parties are not resolving issues plaguing the country.

Hazare said that he had learnt a lesson from the Jan Lokpal agitation and will not allow any individual to use him for their political gain. "Now, I'm taking an undertaking on a Rs 100 bond paper from volunteers who want to join me in the March 23 agitation for the cause of farmers, Lokpal law and other issues. Legal action will be taken against volunteers who violate the conditions," he told TOI on the sidelines of a public function.

Hazare said that the proposed agitation has received a positive response from the country with over 4,000 volunteers signing the undertaking. The Gandhian said that he has written 32 letters to the Centre with regard to the Lokpal issue. "I will soon write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to resolve all water disputes, including the Mahadayi, Cauvery and Godavari issues amicably," he said.
