Game of Thrones may be ending, but it won't be long before there's another George R.R. Martin series on our screens.
Syfy has given a series order to Nightflyers, an adaptation of Martin's 1980 novella and the 1987 film of the same name. Netflix has signed on as a co-producer of the project, meaning the drama will premiere on the streaming service outside of the U.S.
Nightflyers will star Gretchen Mol as one of eight scientists and a telepath who embarks on a mission in the hopes of discovering alien life that might hold the key to humanity's survival. However, when violent and inexplicable events begin befalling the small crew of the spaceship Nightflyer, they realize the journey will be far more dangerous than the every imagined.
Nightflyers will also star Eoin Macken, Karl D'Branin, David Ajala, Sam Strike, Maya Eshet, Angus Sampson, Jodie Turner-Smith and Brian F. O'Byrne. Martin will serve as an executive producer alongside writer Jeff Buhler and showrunner Daniel Cerone.
