PSPCL to provide power at low rates: Power Min

Punjab Power and Irrigation Minister Rana Gurjeet Singh on Wednesday said Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has started process to recruit 2800 Assistant Linemen, 330 LDC, 253 Sub Station Attendants, and 300 JEs. Apart from these, 384 dependants of PSPCL employees has been given jobs on companionate grounds and jobs to 60 more dependants would be provided soon.

Releasing the wall calendar of PSPCL, Singh said that on the directions of Chief Minister of Punjab Capt Amarinder Singh, Punjab Government is committed to give jobs to the youth of the State.

Highlighting the achievements, the Minister said Punjab has met the maximum demand of 11705 MW Power on July 11, 2017 which was a grand achievement of the Punjab and all credit goes to hard working engineers and employees of PSPCL.

Singh added that under R-APDRP scheme infrastructure development of 46 towns having population more than 30,000 have been covered at a cost of 1632.70 crores to reduce AT& C losses below 15% and to bring about commercial viability besides reducing outages and increasing consumers satisfaction.

“Under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Jyoti Yojana strengthening and augmentation of sub transmission and distribution infrastructure under rural areas has been under taken covering 1968 villages at a cost of Rs 252.06 crores. The feeders segregation/AP consumer metering in Kandi area is being under taken at a cost 190.24 crores”, added the Power Minister.

The Minister said that about 2.5 lac connections have been released during the FY 2017-18. Conveying his best wishes for the year 2108 to the engineers and employees of PSPCL, he said that Punjab State Power Corporation Limited has been playing a very important role in the overall development of the State.
