PLEASANT CITY — Felony charges are pending against a Caldwell woman after illegal narcotics were reportedly found in her possession following an accident in Pleasant City Wednesday night.

Stephanie McElfresh, 28, was cited for operating a vehicle while under the influence, driving while under a license suspension and failure to control following the accident at approximately 9:54 p.m.

McElfresh reportedly refused treatment at the scene for minor injuries sustained during the accident.

According to the Cambridge post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, McElfresh was driving a 2003 Saturn Vue eastbound on Pleasant Road when she crossed Route 821 in Pleasant City and crashed through a guardrail. The sport-utility vehicle then struck a tree before coming to rest in a creek.

The Vue sustained extensive damage.

Emergency responders from the Pleasant City Volunteer Fire Department and United Ambulance were dispatched to the scene along with patrol troopers.

The patrol reported illegal narcotics were found inside the Vue and in McElfresh’s purse during the ensuing investigation. Charges are expected to be filed in the near future.

No additional information was available as of press time Thursday.

The accident remained under investigation by the patrol’s Cambridge post.
