The scheming mother, played by Emmerdale cast Emma Atkins, wanted to dig up some dirt on Tom Waterhouse (Ned Porteous) and broke into his office.

Charity stole a security pass before setting off the fire alarm so she could find his office undetected.

The blonde bombshell managed to get into his private office as she made a shocking discovery.

But fans were left confused when Charity made it through the entire building without being questioned, even though she walked past a fire marshall.

One posted on social media: "Excellent fire marshal there, walked straight past Charity who was walking into a potentially burning building."

Another added: "The fire warden just walked straight past charity and didn’t say a word! Glad he doesn’t work at my office!"

A third chipped in: "Why did no-one question why Charity was walking upstairs as the fire alarm was going off?"

A fourth wrote: "Stumped by Tom's big reveal, but totally ruined for me cos I can't believe Charity got away with breaking into a massive office."

Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb) was left devastated as her home, car and possessions were taken away from her by Tom.

It was then discovered that he was actually Joseph Tate, the son of the late Chris Tate, Charity's husband who killed himself to frame Charity for his death.

He revealed that he had been plotting against the family for months to avenge his dad.
