Body found at Kensington home in Melbourne's inner-west

Posted January 04, 2018 09:01:35

Police are trying to figure out a mystery death after a body was found in a home in Melbourne's inner west.

Officers were called to a house in Kensington after the discovery yesterday, and they remained there this morning.

It appears the body had been in the house, in Lambeth Street, for some time.

The Homicide Squad has been called in to investigate.

Detectives are yet to determine if the death is suspicious.

A resident of the street said a woman had lived at the property for a long time.

But the resident, who did not wish to be named, said she had not seen the woman for several months.

"She had maybe one or two kids, I'm not sure," the woman said.

"She looked like might be Aussie, maybe around 40."
