Girl killed when hit by a truck while sledding in Virginia

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) — A girl has died after being hit by a pick-up truck in a sledding accident Thursday afternoon.

Police in Chesterfield County say the juvenile was sledding down a driveway in Chester around 2:15 p.m. when she slid into the path of a Toyota Tacoma in the 2600 block of Mistwood Forest Drive. The truck struck her and immediately stopped.

The girl was taken to VCU Medical Center, where she died as a result of her injuries.

Conflicting reports from media sources in the area identify the girl as 9 or 12 years old.

Police continue to investigate.
