It is really interesting and amusing to see the way the country has embraced this film by Aamir. All through 2017, China has only spoken and watched Dangal. It definitely was unbelievable to see Dangal rise and rise into a giant of a film in China. Such was its craze that the film managed to beat many Hollywood films in its wake. It became the only Indian film to earn so much at the box office. It’s China box office collection itself was over Rs 1000 crore. No wonder that Aamir has become the most loved actor there. He even has an affectionate moniker – Uncle Khan. What is funnier here is Aamir Khan and the producers only got 25 percent of the profit. Yes, China has rule of sharing only that much with the makers of a foreign film to screen them at the theatres. Speaking to DNA, Trade analyst Akshaye Rathi had said, “Only 45 foreign films are allowed to release in China. Of these, four are Indian films. I think it’s unfair because the producer plays the gamble on films, and gets a minority share. But, with someone like Aamir, you know if you invest in his film, you’ll get an assured net per cent return. So, co-productions deal with him like financing ones. It’s a 100 per cent profit and best case scenario for any producer and studio.”
