The big-serving South Africa, who made the final of the US Open in 2017, is through to the quarter-finals of the Indian tournament as he continues his preparations for the Australian Open on January 15.

Anderson progressed to last eight by beating Brazilian Thiego Monteiro, who was forced to retire with an injury.

Anderson posted a video of the moment to his Twitter page with the caption "when your two favourite sports collide!"

He later confirmed that he had appointed Brad Stine as his new coach for the 2018 season.
