Lucknow, Jan 4: Be ready to pay Rs 500 for a one-day drive on Lucknow-Agra Expressway. This means that if a person wants to travel from Delhi to Lucknow, he/she will have to shell out Rs 915 in total as the toll tax for Noida-Agra expressway is Rs 415. Both the expressways will be operated by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority. The charges may be applied from January 15, 2018.

Reports said that the exact amount is not known yet and a final decision would be taken soon. An official release said that the toll tax between Lucknow and Agra will be finalised soon.

“We are in the process of finalising the amount that will be charged up to each exit point on the stretch. For instance, if one is going from Lucknow and exiting the expressway at Kannauj, he or she will inform the toll plaza at Lucknow and pay a reduced amount,” an official told TOI.

Facilities along the expressway are not finished yet. Toilets have been installed, but restaurants and hotels will be constructed by April. Petrol pumps along the sides will be opened by March.

Uttar Pradesh Minister of Industries, Satish Mahana said the government would collect the toll tax for first two months and access the situation. He said the government will come out with a tender soon.

The Lucknow-Agra e-way was a flagship project launched by former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav. It was inaugurated on November 21, 2016. It brought down the travel time from Lucknow to Delhi to six hours.
