On Jan. 5, the N.C. Museum of Art kicks off a festival of classic comedies for its Winter Films series.
The first selection is Arthur Hiller’s 1979 farce “The In-Laws,” starring Alan Arkin and Peter Falk. Arkin plays a straight-laced Manhattan dentist whose daughter is set to marry the son of a shady and somewhat zany CIA operative played by Falk. The mismatched duo find themselves entangled in a web of international intrigue that just might make them late for the wedding. Richard Libertini, Nancy Dussault and Ed Begley Jr. also star.
The 8 p.m. screening will be introduced by NCMA Film Curator Laura Boyes. Tickets are $7 ($5 for members, ages 7-18 and college students with ID). Details: 919-715-5923 or ncartmuseum.org.
