Princess Charlotte starts nursery TODAY - but why is she at a different nursery to George?

PRINCESS Charlotte will start her very first day at Willcocks Nursery School in London today - but how does it compare to the village nursery school her older brother Prince George attended?

Kate and William will take their two-year-old daughter to the £14,550-a-year Kensington nursery this morning.

The pre-school is a far cry from the choice for Prince George, Westacre Montessori School in Norfolk.

At the time, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were living in Anmer Hall in Norfolk and the nursery was just a short distance away from the Queen’s Sandringham Estate.

However, as Kate is now expecting their third child, the family are now back in London’s Kensington Palace.

Westacre Montessori School cost the Royal couple just £5.50 per hour, £33 per day and most children who are sent to the nursery get financial help.

It is in huge contrast to Princess Charlotte’s school where fees at the nursery are £3,050 per term for morning sessions, as well as an extra £1,800 for afternoons.

The choices of schools could also suggest the royal household is already planning for different roles for the brother and sister, even so early in their lives.

The Norfolk day care Prince George attended is a Montessori, which prides itself on growing a pupil's independence, toughening William and Kate's oldest royal baby up for the weight of the role he will play in his adult life.

Charlotte's school is focussed on more sensitive values, with one mother describing it as “gentle, which is what you want for young ones”.

Prince William has previously described Charlotte’s sweet nature and kindness.

During a royal visit in October 2015, Professor Christopher Dobson said that Prince William "talked a little bit about the children, and he did make a couple of comments about their different temperaments".

Princess Charlotte will at first be invited to attend a short "stay and play" session with her parents, according to the nursery's website.

The Royal couple will then be asked to leave to see if their daughter, who will be encouraged to bring a photograph or toy from home, "is happy to be left".
