Wanda L. Weiler, 88, of Olney,
passed away on Wednesday,
January 3, 2018 at Carle
Richland Memorial Hospital
in Olney.
Wanda was born at home
in Richland County on April
23, 1929, the daughter of
Harmon H. and Schrilda J. (Schnell) Poff. She married
James E. Weiler on September 28, 1948, at St. Joseph
Catholic Church in Olney. Jim preceded her in death
on October 19, 2016. They are together once again.
They have 7 children, 9 grandchildren, and 7 greatgrandchildren.
Wanda was a graduate of West Richland High School.
She was devoted to her family throughout her life. She
especially loved celebrating the holidays with them,
hoping to instill bonds of family and tradition. She also
enjoyed collecting keepsakes of moments that were important
to her family. She retired from General Telephone
Company giving her more time to travel, work in
her flowers, and attend her grandchildren’s school and
sports activities. Blessed with a generous nature, Wanda
donated to numerous charities, organizations, and
fundraisers to help those in need. She will be dearly
missed by all who knew and loved her.
Wanda is survived by her daughter, Dianne Dawson
and husband Doug; Son, John Weiler and wife Peggy;
Son, Mark Weiler; Daughter, Jane Vanfossen and husband
Paul of Wooster, Ohio; Daughter, Chris Truitt and
husband Jim; Daughter, Pam Weiler; Daughter, Judy
Weiler; Grandchildren, Mike Weiler and wife Amy, Jennifer
(Weiler) Backer and husband Bryan, Matthew
Weiler, Nathan Vanfossen, Jaime (Vanfossen) Fozzard
and husband Chris, Adam Vanfossen and wife Kara,
Erin (Truitt) Ginder and husband Jason, Steve Craig,
Heather (Craig) Wilkins and husband Darrin; Greatgrandchildren,
Jackson Weiler, Alicia Backer, Elizabeth
Backer, Claire Ginder, Ellison Ginder, Macy Craig, and
Reese Wilkins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jim; parents;
sister, Elsie Rule and husband Arthur; brother,
Henry Poff and wife Dorothy; sister, Alice VanMatre
and husband Luther; sister, Marie Woomer and husband
Sherrill; and infant granddaughter, Ashley S. Baker.
Memorials can be made to the St. Joseph School.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM
on Monday, January 8, 2018, at the St. Joseph Catholic
Church in Olney, with a visitation beginning one hour
prior. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic
Cemetery in Olney.
