Heavy snow and strong winds from a blizzard sweeping through New Jersey on Thursday morning could bring up to a foot of snow to much larger portion of the state based on the latest weather forecasts.
Much of South Jersey already has a few inches of snow as of 6 a.m. and the worst is yet to come, according to the National Weather Service.
The latest maps released at 6 a.m. shows the Jersey Shore could get 12 to 18 inches. In addition, a much wider region in the expected 8 to 12 inch zone, stretching inland from northern Monmouth County to Cumberland County.
The Interstate 95 corridor is in line for 6-8 inches of snow, while northwest parts of the state should escape the brunt of the storm and end up with 2 to 4 inches as the heavier bands won't reach those areas. Newark now falls in the 6 to 8 inch range.
