Researchers have concluded that the region with the most Red Devils supporters is actually London, around 209 miles from Greater Manchester.
The capital has more Man Utd fans (17%) than any other region in Britain, along with bitter rivals and league leaders Man City (12%).
Swansea were found to have the most amount of fans in their region, with 39% confined to home country Wales, more than anywhere else.
The AskFans survey – which asked 5,182 fans – asked where in the country they were living, and used this to establish which region had the most fans for each club.

4. Watford – London – 23%
5. West Brom – West Midlands – 22%
6. West Ham – South East – 21%
7. Newcastle – North East – 19%
8. Southampton – London – 19%
9. Crystal Palace – South East – 18%
10. Man United – London – 17%
11. Liverpool – North West – 15%
12. Leicester – East of England – 15%
13. Stoke – West Midlands – 14%
14. Burnley – North East – 14%
15. Everton – South West – 14%
16. Chelsea – South West – 13%
17. Arsenal – Scotland – 13%
18. Man City – London – 12%
19. Bournemouth – East of England – 12%
20. Tottenham – London – 11%
The study also found that Burnley and Southampton had the highest percentage of female fans (49%), while Newcastle (81%) and Stoke (76%) had the highest proportion of single fans.
Participants in the survey were spread evenly.
A spokesman from AskFans, Varun Mathure, said: "We were interested to find out more about Premier League supporters and how their preferences differ.
"We found it interesting to see that some Northern teams have more supporters in London than they do in their hometown.
"It was also fun seeing how vastly different responses were to the more light-hearted questions."
