The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a 39-year-old Commerce Township man was found dead Tuesday, shortly before 1 a.m.

Deputies were called to a home in the 600 block of Andrews Street and were directed to an upstairs bathroom by the man’s girlfriend. She said she last saw him alive about seven hours earlier. There were no signs of trauma to his body and no drug paraphernalia was found at the scene, the sheriff’s office said, though the man had a history of substance abuse. According to the girlfriend, he preferred to snort heroin rather than inject it, the sheriff’s office said.

Results of an autopsy are pending.
