Rose has only recently returned to action for Tottenham after spending the past nine months on the sidelines with a serious knee injury.
Manchester United have expressed a serious interest in signing the England international, with Jose Mourinho keen to expand his options at left-back.
Luke Shaw has been touted as a potential player that could be used in a swap deal.
Rose is thought to be valued by Spurs at close to £50m.
And now according to The Sun, Mourinho knows he must stump up at least £50m for the 27-year-old.
Can we improve now or do we wait until the summer to try to do it? I cannot say
Rose is currently out of action for three weeks after hurting his knee in the 5-2 Boxing Day win over Southampton.
The Sun also claim Mourinho has been given reassurances that the injury is not too serious.
Meanwhile, the same report also suggests that Fulham could find it difficult to turn down a £30m bid from Spurs for Ryan Sessegnon if it is forthcoming.
It is believed that while United may need more firepower, Mourinho has his heart set on Rose.

When Mourinho was asked about potential incomings in the January transfer window after the win over Everton, he said: “I honestly don't know [about transfers].
"I know in this moment we are in trouble, in two or three weeks time maybe we recover some players and we breathe in a different way.
