New Year's Honours recognises top transport officials

 

The New Year's Honours list has seen top officials rewarded for services to transport.

Dr David Prout who was director general of the High Speed 2 Group for the Department for Transport until last year, was made a companion of the Order of the Bath.

OBEs were given to David Buttery, who was lately deputy director for High Speed Rail legislation and environment at the DfT and Linda Willson, lately head of maritime commerce and infrastructure at the DfT.

Richard Wilson, head of the office of the chairman and chief executive of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, was also given an OBE for services to transport along with John Buxton general manager of the Association of Community Rail Partnerships.

Margaret Martin was given an MBE for voluntary service to Road Safety in Northern Ireland and Michael Barratt, development impact assessment lead at Transport for London was also given an MBE.

Another MBE was given to Cindy Beckford, principal programme controls manager at Network Rail, Network Operations, High Speed Rail Phase One Team.

And Clifford Perry, business coordinator, Railway Division at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers was also made an MBE.

Violet Atkinson was made a medallist of the Order of the British Empire for her work as a road safety volunteer with Northumbria Police, as was Tom Crosby for services to railway safety as a volunteer with the Network Rail Community Safety Programme.

Jane Owen, train running controller at Network Rail was also made a medallist of the Order of the British Empire for services to the LGBT community.

There were also OBEs for Graham Garvie, former convenor of Scottish Borders Council and Annie Hampson, chief planning officer for the Corporation of London.
