Coronation Street spoilers: Emily Bishop is finally back - but there’s a catch
CORONATION STREET viewers were thrilled to find out Emily Bishop is finally back in last night's episode but there’s a huge catch.
In the double bill, Ken Barlow (played by William Roache) revealed to Sophie Webster (Brooke Vincent) his old friend had returned to the UK to look after her ill niece Freda Burges (Ali Briggs).
Emily (Eileen Derbyshire) hasn’t been seen on the cobbles since she jetted off to Peru to undertake voluntary work in 2016.
Actress Eileen, 86, played the character for 55 years but announced two years ago that she would be taking a break from the role for the foreseeable future.
However, the soap’s second longest-serving character still remains a fan-favourite with many hoping she will make an almighty return.

“Emily? Did someone say Emily? Is Mrs Bishop coming back? If so, would be wonderful! #EmilyBishop #Corrie," commented another.
Whereas, other viewers believed there was a hidden meaning to Ken mentioning Emily's return with many questioning if her off-screen death is on the horizon.
