At least five injured in crash near Wairoa

Police and emergency services are at the scene of what appears to be a two-vehicle crash on SH2 near Ohuia Road just before 6pm this evening.

A police spokesperson said initial reports state five people have been injured.

Their injuries are unknown at this stage.

Police are urging motorists to avoid the area as both lanes are blocked.

Traffic going north is being diverted through Tiniroto Road, but not all vehicles will be able to use this diversion, as there are some single-lane bridges in the area.

Traffic going south, will need to delay travel.

Motorists are asked to follow diversions where instructed and Police thank them for their patience.
