The Rajya Sabha on Thursday saw statements on the Bhima Koregaon violence in Maharashtra which has widened the fissures in the Dalit-Maratha conflict during the Zero Hour. Parliamentarians in the Upper House strongly condemned the violence with many Opposition leaders demanding a judicial inquiry into the issue.
The Rajya Sabha was adjourned on Wednesday after Opposition demanded the draft regulation of the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, 2017 be referred to a select committee. The Bill, which was passed in the Lok Sabha through a voice vote last week, is likely to be taken for discussion in Rajya Sabha today.
The Lok Sabha, on the other hand, was adjourned for the day after the Opposition and the government sparred over The Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Third Amendment) Bill, 2017 which seeks to grant the National Commission on Backward Classes (NCBC) constitutional status, at par with the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) and the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes. The matter is likely to be taken up today as well.

- Jan 4, 2018 at 8:27 pmIt was a nice plan to reduce Muslim population in disguise of helping them. Husbands will be sent to jail and Wives and kids will be starved to death. The Upper House sabotaged the plan. We have to agree they are wiser. Now the plan will get leaked. What to do?Reply
- Jan 4, 2018 at 8:10 pmIf MUSLIMS follow the SUNNAH of Prophet Muhammad and do NOT TALAQ their FIRST WIFE or MARRY a SECOND TIME till DEATH of FIRST WIFE as MUHAMMAD did with his FIRST WIFE KHADIJA, TRIPLE TALAQ PROBLEM will END. ............ This VERY IMPORTANT DEED (SUNNAH) in the LIFE of PROPHET MUHAMMAD - that after marrying KHADIJA, Muhammad lived with ONLY ONE WIFE for 24 years till DEATH of KHADIJA and the FACT that Muhammad DID NOT TALAQ his FIRST WIFE should be made PART of SHARIA. Thus the SHARIA LAW should rule that "MUSLIM MEN should not TALAQ his FIRST WIFE or MARRY a SECOND TIME as long as his FIRST WIFE is ALIVE"Reply
- Jan 4, 2018 at 7:32 pmTYPICAL DOUBLE SPEAK by CONgress. After supporting the ANTI-TRIPLE TALAQ BILL in Lok Sabha, it is being opposed in Rajya Sabha. ........... Govt should push the BILL through and if VOTED DOWN in RAJYA SABHA by CONgress, joint sitting of Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha should be called and the NDA MAJORITY used to pass the BILL.Reply

- Jan 4, 2018 at 7:39 pmMODIJI's WIFE enjoys all the RIGHTS if she wants to seek Legal Redress unlike TRIPLE TALAQ-ED MUSLIM WOMEN. So leave it to her. If she has any problem she will sort it out. .......... The TRIPLE TALAQ BILL is the consequence of TALAQ-ED MUSLIM WIVES seeking justice from Supreme Court of India and NOT because of GOVT, BJP or anyone else going to court. So the PROBLEM is with ISLAM. ............. If MUSLIMS follow the SUNNAH of Prophet Muhammad and do NOT TALAQ their FIRST WIFE or MARRY a SECOND TIME till DEATH of FIRST WIFE as MUHAMMAD did with his FIRST WIFE KHADIJA, TRIPLE TALAQ PROBLEM will END.Reply
