Truck driver for local dairies

WATERBURY – Harry Eugene Dillon Sr., 89, of Waterbury, formerly of Prospect, passed away Dec. 31, 2017, at Masonicare Hospital in Wallingford. He was the loving husband of Dorothy (Johnson) Dillon for more than 70 years.

He was born Aug. 31, 1928, in Waterbury, son of the late Michael Harry and Augusta Gladys (McCullough) Dillon. Harry served in the Navy during World War II. Prior to his retirement, he was a truck driver for many local dairy companies.

Harry is survived by a daughter, Patricia Dillon Caponera and her husband, Phillip, of Homosassa, Fla.; two sons, Harry E. Dillon Jr. and wife, Janet, of Bradenton, Fla., and Scott A. Dillon and wife, Marianne, of Brandon, Vt.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Frederick Dillon and William McCullough, and a grandson, Kevin Thomas Dillon.

The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect, followed by military honors. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery in the spring. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
