The Disney and Pixar venture, which has already been released in most territories overseas, will finally arrive in Britain later this month.

So when can movie fans in this country finally see it?

There’s not much longer to wait: the Coco UK release date is Friday, January 19.

That will put it up against other new releases The Post, starring Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks, and The Commuter, starring Liam Neeson.

Coco follows a 12-year-old boy who is accidentally transported to the land of the dead, where he enlists the help of his late great-great-grandfather to help him get back to the land of the living.

The animation has so far grossed $184.2 million in the United States and in Canada, with a global haul of $551.8 million.

That’s actually fairly low in the US compared to Pixar’s past movies - grossing only more than A Bug’s Life, Cars 3 and The Good Dinosaur.

In terms of its global haul, however, it’s more mid-table; also outpacing the likes of Brave, WALL-E, Monsters, Inc., Toy Story and Toy Story 2.

Its critical acclaim, however, is huge: it currently has a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.2/10 score on Meteoritic.

So far it has been nominated for Best Animated Feature at this weekend's Golden Globes, and is likely to pop up in the same field at the Oscars.

It will be followed this summer by Pixar's next effort; The Incredibles 2.

Coco is out on January 19 in the UK.
