Arsenal battled back to earn a 2-2 draw in a pulsating match against Chelsea this evening.

Jack Wilshere gave his side the lead with his first Premier League goal for the Gunners since May 2015 before Eden Hazard equalised from the spot.

Marcos Alonso looked as though he had stolen all three points for the visitors with just six minutes left of normal time.

But Hector Bellerin stepped up in injury time with a sensational effort to salvage a point for Arsenal.

Much of the defending left a lot to be desired from both sides but Carragher chose his post-match analysis to give Arsenal a back-handed compliment.

While critiquing the Gunners’ lack of leadership at the back, he went on to claim Arsenal’s front line of Alexis Sanchez, Alexandre Lacazette and Mesut Ozil are better than the attacking options at the disposal of Pep Guardiola.

“Arsenal’s front three are better than Man City’s front three, in terms of Sane, Sterling and Aguero,” Carragher told Sky Sports.

“Some people may not agree with that but it’s certainly very close.

“You think of the performance tonight and in all those big games at home.

“But they still get let down by what is behind them. It’s the same thing we’ve been saying for years.

“The defending is so poor and basic.”
