Bhopal: Scindia wants to move a privilege motion against Chouhan’s govt

Bhopal: Member of Parliament Jyotiraditya Scindia has expressed his intent to move a privilege motion against the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government. In a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker on Wednesday, Scindia accusing the state government of political vendetta said that he is not being allowed to discharge his duties as an MP.
In the letter, Scindia has said that on October 11, 2017 he had visited Mungaoli Government College in Ashoknagar district on an invitation of its principal Dr BL Ahirwar. The principal had written a letter to him seeking funds for purchase of books, sports gear and furniture for the college.
During his visit to the college, Scindia gave an amount of Rs 3 lakh from MPLAD fund and later an additional Rs 2 lakh was also given. But on the very same day, October 11, the state government suspended the principal, citing his visit to the college. The state government accused Ahirwar of organising an National Service Scheme (NSS) event under the banner of a political party and held that his conduct violated the civil services rules. Scindia claimed that that all the accusations were baseless.
“It is my right as an MP and as a representative of the people to use my MPLAD funds for the development projects in my constituency,” Scindia said in the letter. “Visiting the college, addressing the students and deploying my MPLAD funds are all within my rights as a Parliamentarian. The privileges of Parliament are granted to members so that they discharge their duties without let and hindrance,” read the letter.
He has asked the privileges committee to take strict action against the Shivraj Singh Chouhan led government so that such arbitrary and malicious act are not perpetrated against innocent government officials or democratically elected representative again.
