New ministers get portfolios, Menon, Manju, Anis, Tarana lose old offices

The government, in a major reshuffle, allocated portfolios to the newly appointed ministers and state ministers and swapped the offices of four incumbent ministers and state ministers on Wednesday.
The reshuffle came just a day after the four new ministers were sworn in.
Among the new ministers - AKM Shahgahan Kamal got the office of Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry and Mustafa Jabbar the Post Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministry.
New State Minister Kazi Keramat Ali was given the charge of Technical and Madrasa Education.
Newly sworn in Minister Narayan Chandra Chanda was given the same ministry - Fisheries and Livestock Ministry - where he had been serving as the State Minister before his elevation.
In the reshuffle in the Cabinet Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon was sent to the Social Welfare Ministry while Water Resources Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud was given the responsibility of Environment and Forest Ministry, Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam told reporters at his office after allocating ministries to the ministers.
Besides, Environment and Forest Minister Anwar Hossain Manju was made Water Resources Minister while State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Tarana Halim was made the State Minister for Information.
State Minister for Social Welfare Nuruzzaman Ahmed will remain at the same office.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday expanded her cabinet inducting three new faces into it and promoting a state minister to a full one. They all took oath at Bangabhaban in the evening. President Abdul Hamid administered oath to them at 6:30pm.
Of them, Narayan Chandra Chanda, AKM Shahgahan Kamal and IT expert Mustafa Jabbar were sworn in as ministers while Rajbari-1 MP Kazi Keramat Ali as a State Minister.
According to sources, although the newly sworn in Minister Narayan Chanda attended the Wednesday's Cabinet meeting, the three newly appointed ministers and state minister did not join. They were not invited to the meeting as they had not been given any portfolios.
