Monster Hunter World fans have been given some good news and bad news by Capcom.

The good news is that Monster Hunter World is being optimised for PC and its release date has been narrowed down.

The bad news is that PC owners will have to wait a little longer for the game to launch.

"#MHWorld is currently being optimised for PC and is planned for an Autumn 2018 release!" Capcom tweeted.

The comments suggest that Monster Hunter World will be released sometime after September.

It's better news for PS4 and Xbox One owners, who can start playing Monster Hunter World from January 26.

Capcom also confirmed plans to add new content to Monster Hunter World after the game launches later this month.

Monster Hunter World producer Ryozo Tsujimoto told fans that future content updates will be released free of charge.

The free updates will include brand new monsters for players to hunt.

That's on top of downloadable weapons, items and outfits for your character.

There's still no word on an Xbox One beta, following two PS4 tests in 2017.

Capcom recently gave fans some Monster Hunter World tips ahead of the release date.

Players are encouraged to communicate using voice chat and text chat, but also by using set phrases, stickers and gestures.

Capcom also encourages players to take advantage of their surroundings by hiding in foliage, using Vitalities to replenish health and Flashflies to blind monsters.

Specialised tools will grant players temporary abilities, including a Ghillie Mantle that will camouflage you from monsters.
