Sky CEO becomes ambassador for WWF

Thursday 4 January 2018 | 10:00 CET | News
Sky Group CEO Jeremy Darroch has become an ambassador for the World Wide Fund for Nautre (WWF), joining David Attenborough and Ben Fogle on the NGO’s council. Darroch earlier took part in Sky’s and the WWF’s Sky Rainforest Rescue campaign, which raised over GBP 9 million between 2009 and 2015 to help save one billion trees in the Amazon. Following this success, the two will now work to safeguard Marine Protected Areas across Europe, with plans to launch a campaign earlier this year.

Darroch led Sky’s drive to become the world’s first carbon-neutral entertainment company in 2006, and in October 2017, announced the company’s commitment to eliminate all single-use plastics from its operations, products and supply chain by 2020. In January, the company also launched Sky Ocean Rescue, which aims to raise awareness about how the ocean is threatened from plastic pollution, overfishing and climate threat. At The Our Ocean Conference, hosted by the EU in Malta, Sky announced the commitment of GBP 25 million over five years for the Ocean Rescue Innovation Fund.
