Eric Trump on Wednesday implied comedian and TV host Ellen DeGeneres was part of a "deep state" shadow government.
"Shocking... once again, here are the @Twitter “suggestions” of who I should follow. #DeepState," Trump tweeted, with an image of the social media platform's automated recommendation that President Trump's second eldest son follow former President Barack Obama, 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, and DeGeneres.

The term "deep state" refers to a conspiracy theory that there is a behind-the-scenes, unelected bureaucracy controlling the government.
DeGeneres, who starred in an eponymous sitcom before starting her own talk show in 2003, has no official position or role associated with the government.
