2 held for indiscriminate firing in Laguna, Pangasinan

MANILA, Philippines — Two persons were arrested for alleged indiscriminate firing in Laguna and Pangasinan on Tuesday.

Reylito Salandanan, 45, reportedly pulled out his gun and fired several shots in Barangay Sabang, Pagsanjan at around 3 p.m.

Salandanan was collared in a follow-up operation in Barangay Malanac, Magdalena.

Police said they recovered a .45-caliber pistol from the suspect.

Salandanan was charged with alarm and scandal under Article 155 of the Revised Penal Code.

In Pangasinan, Sgt. Ferdinand Niño of the 59th Infantry Battalion was collared after a concerned citizen reported that a soldier in a white Toyota Innova (ASA-3387) was firing his gun in Barangay Centro Toma, Bani, Pangasinan.

The vehicle, which was driven by Herbert Diño, was pulled over at a checkpoint set up by the police.

Niño reportedly yielded a 9mm pistol with serial number ACML477.
